This is a fascinating read about South African comedian Trevor Noah's experience growing up during Apartheid. At the time, South Africa was divided into 3 racial groups and the native tribes were manipulated against one other. Born to a black mother and a white father, Trevor was born a crime.
This is his coming of age story, as he gives us a glimpse into the many trials and tribulations he faced growing up in a distraught society. True to his character, he sprinkles in humor whilst simultaneously conveying the myriad challenges he faced. I recommend this book to those of all ages, but I think it may be particularly valuable for young teens looking to understand the complexities of the world we live in.
